SEVEN STEPS TO SHIP STABILITY PART 2

SEVEN STEPS TO SHIP STABILITY PART 2

Code No: 623

Video Running Time: 28 minutes

BOOK VIDEO

The second video is more advanced, showing steps 4-7

  • Transverse stability
  • Longitudinal strength and stability
  • Rolling of ships
  • Turning at speed

The videos are accompanied by a booklet which can be used as a teaching aid by a lecturer or trainer; it presents the key points in each of the seven steps. It can also be used as a self-study guide, and it shows sources of further information and guides the user to more detailed references and worked examples in recommended text books.

Ship stability books are sometimes very good, but by using the dynamic presentation of a video, the ship can be seen heeling, listing and lolling with animated diagrams shown along with real life and test tank illustrations. Videos bring the subject to life.

This teaching and learning package of two videos and a booklet will be of great use for:

Teachers and students on maritime and naval architecture courses, including STCW certificates of competency Company training officers and ships' officers for re-fresher programmes and for introducing stability topics to staff new to their ships and trades

For shore-based personnel responsible for working with ships on loading plans, normal loading procedures, firefighting, contingency planning, salvage and other emergencies.
