PERSONAL SAFETY ON PASSENGER SHIPS

Code No: 563

Video Running Time: 20 minutes

VIDEO BOOK

When people are in a holiday mood, acting safely is rarely at the top of their list of priorities. The message of this video is that crew have to watch out for the safety of the passengers as well as doing their own job safely, using the correct procedures.

Passengers may need to have the safety features of their cabins pointed out, including the location of their life jackets and muster station. Passengers should be encouraged to use hand rails whilst walking about especially in heavy weather. If an accident occurs, help should be given whether to crew member or passenger and the safety officer, medical department or supervisor informed.

Injured people feel very vulnerable, so no injured passenger should ever feel they have been neglected.
