Any bunkering operation is always a challenging and intense process for all onboard. Bunkering is often carried out when the ship's crew and engineering personnel are pressed for both time and manpower. Therefore, they must be properly trained, briefed and proficient in: pre-bunkering preparation, sampling and measurement during bunkering, the bunkering operation itself, post-bunkering operations and contingency plans.

This is an updated programme. It is aimed at all crew members and reflects the changes that have taken place over the last ten years in the bunkering market, in the technologies of sample taking and with the advent of MARPOL Annex VI regulations. This programme outlines and complies with the international legislation designed to ensure safety, best practice and best performance at sea when bunkering.
