VIDEO CBT BOOK

The latest edition of this series on mooring comprises three video programmes and an accompanying support booklet that incorporates the updated OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines 3rd Edition (MEG3). Each programme deals with a separate aspect of mooring.

Maintenance of Mooring Systems
The mooring system must be in a position to cope with the foreseeable demands that are likely to be placed upon it at any time. This programme shows the maintenance work that needs to be carried out during a voyage to ensure that the mooring system will work without fail at the next port. Maintenance of Mooring Systems shows some of the most important tasks involved in mooring system maintenance, and how they relate to hydraulic and electrically powered winches. The ship's maintenance schedule should include periodic inspection of ropes, wires, shackles, stoppers, winches and other parts of the system, such as fairleads. The programme also explains that a significant maintenance operation is the periodic testing of winch brakes. It illustrates a recommended testing process, along with providing details on the care of the ropes and wires, including their safe storage.
