Course Objectives:
To provide a Course compliant with, and meeting the requirements
of, paragraphs 23 - 34 of Section A-V/1 of the STCW Code.
Course Outcomes:
On the successful completion of a Course, the candidate will have
the technical knowledge required to serve on a tanker and be
assigned specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo or
cargo equipment. The candidate will have gained sufficient
knowledge of the practical application of the basic principles and
concepts of safe tanker operations in order to carry out these
duties.

Mode of Delivery:
This course is delivered using Computer Based Training. Students
may use this presentation. It includes comprehensive on-screen
instructions to get started. The course contains text with (English
language) voiceover, still photographs, video clips and
animations.
Course Duration:
It is estimated that 30 Guided Learning Hours (GLHs) are required
to complete a Course. GLHs include the time needed to follow the
program on the computer, plus time needed for additional reading
and research as well as the time needed to complete the
assessments.
Assessment:
The assessment strategy is flexible and will depend on the
requirements of the Approving Flag State. The course includes
written assignments for the students to complete at the end of each
Module. These assignments are compiled in a Portfolio which is
returned to the UK for independent third party assessment.
If Flag States do not require this level of authentication,
other systems can be offered including onboard computer based
assessment.
Certification:
On successful completion of a Course, Videotel will issue Flag
State approved certificates.
Progression:
On successful completion of a Course, candidates would be expected
to consolidate their knowledge by performing their role on board
ship.
