This package is a detailed record of a harmonised survey being carried out by two Lloyds surveyors, involving an Intermediate Special Survey - including an Annual Classification Survey - an Annual Safety Construction Survey, a Periodical Load Line Inspection and a Safety Equipment Renewal Survey.

The ship is the Elsam Fyn, a nine hold bulk carrier, used for the carriage of coal, and built in 1983. Due to the immense work involved in these surveys the activities of the two surveyors on board the ship were covered by three camera teams.

The work is covered right from the moment a call for the surveys arrives at one of LR's offices and concludes with the issuing of the relevant certificates. The video shows the range of documentation involved and the preparation that needs to take place before the surveys can begin. The details of each of the surveys are far too numerous to mention here, as anyone familiar with survey techniques will know.

The aim of the video is to illustrate the attention the surveyors pay to every detail that is required by the documentation. This is a Master Class of a ship's survey, carried out by two very experienced Lloyds Register surveyors.
