The first ICSW Awards launch promoting seafarers' welfare.
December saw the first ICSW International Seafarers’ Welfare Awards down at IMO in London - a very fitting ending to the IMO Year of the Seafarer. Presented by Secretary General Efthimios Mitropoulos, the event aim was to raise the profile of seafarers’ welfare within the maritime industry. Videotel caught up with the winners and shortlisted guests post-event to get their views.
Award Winners:
Port of the Year – Joint winner Port of Barcelona, Joint winner Port of Singapore
Shipping Company of the year – Bernhard Schulte Ship Management.
Seafarer Centre of the Year - Rosenhill Seamen’s Centre in Gothenburg (Sweden).
Welfare Personality of the Year – Ann Brogan of the Sailors Society
