CPD workshop

We bring to your attention two important developments

Continuing Professional Development

(CPD) is the key to building workforce skills on top of STCW basics. It empowers the individual to manage their lifelong learning in a more co-ordinated and strategic fashion to support their career aspirations. The Nautical Institute is launching a CPD web portal that will enable maritime professionals to research, plan, record and then reflect upon their learning activity. The recent IMO led “Go to Sea” campaign is aimed at recruiting more seafarers, but they will also need guidance and direction in mapping out their careers. This web system will provide this support at the individual level.

Why not join the Nautical Institute at IMO on Thursday 26th March 2009. Have your say on this important subject. Videotel will be there.
Videotel already offers a wide range of CPD courses. Find out more about our courses, VOD on board and online training at our website.

Designated Person Qualification

On 19 October 2007, the IMO issued guidance on the training necessary for undertaking the role of the DP under the ISM Code through a circular ref:MSC-MEPC.7/Circ.6.
We are pleased to announce that jointly with the World Maritime University we have now produced ISM Designated Person Basic Training Course in accordance with the IMO circular. The course is available as a distance learning program CBT and online. The course duration is about 25 hours. The target users are DPs, however, it is also suitable for Senior/Junior Ship Management Executives and Ship's Officers who wish to learn more about the role of the DP. The candidates who complete the course will receive a course completion certificate bearing the Videotel and WMU logos.

More courses.
