VIDEOTEL SCOOPS PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS AND SEALS MAJOR ORDER
8 May 2007
Videotel, the leading provider of computer, video and DVD-based training packages for the maritime industry, last week received no less than eight awards to add to its already abundant collection - paying testament to its commitment to the delivery of quality training products.
The latest accolades include two prestigious awards for its interactive CBT (computer-based training) course Incident Investigation: Analysis & Reporting, as well as two each for CBT courses It's Not Worth It! Maritime Pollution Offences and Target Tracking Devices, both produced with the assistance of the US Coastguard (USCG) and the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA).
Full details of the eight awards are as follows:
Worldfest Houston (USA)
- Target Tracking Devices - Platinum Remi Award (best in category)
- It's Not Worth It! Maritime Pollution Offences - Platinum Remi Award
- Incident Investigation: Analysis & Reporting - Silver Platinum Award
Horizon Interactive Awards (USA)

Communicator Awards (USA)

Videotel's awards success was further compounded by the confirmation of a major order for its full Video-On-Demand (VOD) training system from leading container line CMA CGM (UK). Chris Bravery, the carrier's Safety & Security Manager, visited Videotel last week to seal an agreement for the installation of the VOD training system on more than 100 of the company's vessels. CMA CGM has also acquired Fleet Training Administrator for the management of onboard personnel training records, and the scheduling and administration of training records.
VOD is an onboard training system that allows crews to learn whilst at sea. Not only does this save time for the shipowner, it also demonstrates a commitment to training to authorities such as Port State Control. There are more than 100 CBTs available on VOD, which enhance learning through interactivity, presenting information in a stimulating format with greater knowledge retention.
The CMA CGM order reinforces Videotel as the training partner of choice for high-profile customers around the world and, combined with the string of awards, reflects the continuing high standards of Videotel's products.
Videotel is no stranger to awards. In recent months it has scooped a number of other accolades, including:
- Sea News 1 - Finalist Diploma for News: Current Events Awards at the World Media Festival 2007, Hamburg
- It's Not Worth It! Maritime Pollution Offences - Finalist Certificate Award Winner for Training Modules at New York Festivals 2007
- VOD System - Finalist for Innovation Award at Lloyd's List London Awards 2007
