VIDEOTEL LAUNCHES NEW TANKER MANAGEMENT AND SELF ASSESSMENT 2 TRAINING PROGRAMME

5 September 2008

Videotel Marine International, a leading supplier of training software solutions to the maritime industry, has published Tanker Management and Self Assessment 2 (TMSA 2), a brand new training programme.

The Oil Companies International Maritime Forum (OCIMF) published version 2 of its TMSA initiative in July this year. TMSA 2 is a guide for tanker operators and a tool to help improve tanker management systems. Adoption of TMSA 2 is required by oil majors for tankers carrying their cargos. TMSA 2 includes best practice in loading and discharging operations at terminals and is therefore essential for tanker operators.

Captain Milind Karkhanis, Vice President, Videotel Training Services, comments, "TMSA helps vessel operators identify opportunities to improve their management systems. OCIMF identified current industry best practice, and our training material is aimed at those operators who wish to achieve consistently flawless performance."

Videotel's TMSA 2 training package provides information about TMSA, why it was introduced and how it fits into the Ship Inspection Report (SIRE) vetting process. It describes the benefits of TMSA and how to make best use of it and examines TMSA theory and practice for ship operators.

Videotel's TMSA 2 is available on video and DVD and as a Videotel interactive computer-based training package and is accompanied by a support booklet. The material has been designed for tanker operators' shore offices, tanker vetting departments in oil companies, and senior management teams on tankers.
